Maybe you've seen pictures of Michael Paul Smith's work around the interwebs. Here's an interesting video about the man and his process. Fascinating stuff! Also check out his Elgin Park website.,

Musicians, maybe you've come across this musician and instrument before. It's mighty impressive! This is from the description on the video: The vibrations from the strings are transmitted via the coiled springs to the frame drums. These vibrations are turned into sound by the membranes which echo back and forth on the coiled springs.

Heartwarming. I wish I'd had the time (and an interesting enough life!) to do something similar. At once a wonderful gift to family and an invaluable time capsule.

I wish my home were as ingeniously practical as Buster's! Made nearly 100 years ago. One of Buster's best bits among his shorts. The resolution and soundtrack are fantastic -- restored by Kino some years ago. I have the DVD box set, which contains all of Keaton's independent work. I've modified the link to start the video in the kitchen, but go ahead and watch the whole thing. That's Joe Keaton, Buster's real-life dad, playing his love interest's father.
