What doesn't torture me is being at home all the time. Yes I wish this virus thing would go away and I worry for my family and others. But setting that aside I keep seeing and hearing people going on about this lock-in being torture. The torture for me will be going back to work. And to add to that going back to work when it is still unsafe. Because folks our health will only come before the economy for so long. And that time is fast approaching.

I'm thinking of writing The Torture Thread on my computer chair--it is killing my lower back today.

My back is fucked. But I will put up with it if it keeps me locked down. I've never been happier.

I'd say we civil servants won't be dragging our carcasses to the office every day until 2022. I'm sure there will be a lengthy transition period where we're asked to commute every second day, and masks and social distancing are still enforced inside.

Because we have worked at home for so long it proves it can be done. I can't see myself going in more than once or twice a month even when things get back to normal. Where I work we are not required to wear a mask in the office. Just social distancing. I haven't attended the office for almost 12 months.

I've been to the office twice: once to gather my personal belongings, and a second time to get a replacement laptop from the IT dept.
My newish position involves organising and facilitating a good number of week-long national workshops throughout the year. It's a pain doing this virtually via Teams or Webex. And even though they theoretically cost much less this way (we don't have to fly dozens of people in and put them up in hotels), it takes much longer to realise our objectives, and the end result is not as quality as it would be if everyone were collaborating, brainstorming and peer reviewing in person. Many unforeseen delays and extensions have messed up our schedule and budget, and the workshops are beginning to overlap - not good at all. I'll be happy to take the bus to the office and hotel conference rooms when the pandemic subsides. Well, maybe not so much the office as the hotels and catering!
... Plus, I haven't had an adult to talk to for a year, dammit.

I don't really want to talk to the people I work with or around in the office. But some of them do insist on wanting to chat with me. I bet that surprises you. The good thing with working from home is when they call me I can cut them off and blame it on the Skype dropping out. Another positive of home working.
