I don't dislike any of it... but in the days of digital music, none are the type of music I want to copy into my music library. For fear they keep playing out of proportion.
My I-tunes player on my PC does that with this one album, the only album I have by this band called "Atom and his Package"- a sort of novelty synth punk-lite band. I have HUNDREDS of albums on my hard drive, why does it keep playing that one?! I'm very close to deleting every track except "I am downright amazed at what I can destroy with just a hammer" and "If You Own the Washington Redskins, You're a Cock."
I forget why I've heard my share of Enya. I think I had the one with Orinoco Flow on it when I was a teenager, on cassette. I think I eventually covered the tabs and recorded over it. It must have been my college room-mates. I remember listening to The Celts (One of the discs in the player) the remastered and rereleased version of her debut ST album, and couldn't believe anything could be that boring. But there's a time for it. Usually bedtime. Never driving.
Fleetwood Mac, some good decent classic rock, love Stevie Nick's voice generally, but having a Best of is unnecessary... just turn on a Classic Rock Station... you'll get Fleetwood Mac.
When I was a child, one of the ABBA women on an LP caused me to "feel funny" for the first time. Loved singing Su-pah-pah Troo-pah-pah. And in my teens John Denver albums and ABBA Gold were the only albums I could play if I was a passenger in my mother's car and did not want to listen to god-damned contemporary Country Music. It was the 90's- that shit made me mad.

Thanks for 'splaining, Nonsuch Ned . Regarding the often repeated music by Atom and His Package, does the iTunes player on your PC have an archive function? If so, maybe you can move the album there without completely deleting it.

oh yeah, you can just "delete" the songs from the library without deleting completely. I also save all my music on two external hard-drives periodically after adding a bunch of music. I'm due actually.

Finally got around to actually buying Fiona Apple's Fetch the Bolt Cutters. I've listened to it countless times on Amazon but I wanted to own it on vinyl. And it wasn't available on vinyl initially. When it was, I just put it off.
It's an intentionally noisy album full of layered vocals, bangs and crashes and the occasional barking dog. The mix on the vinyl is crazy- depending on which stereo "mode" I play, I can get very different sounding surround effects.
Got another vinyl of choice for my Xmas gift exchange, Alice in Chains Sap/Jar of Flies double EP. Sap is my first album where the songs (5) are all on one side and the second side is an etching.
I've been thinking of getting other 90's favorites, ones I think will benefit from the format. My next will probably be be PJ Harvey's "Rid of Me"- it's one of Steve Albini's more annoying productions. I mean, it's great...The songs are raw and get a straight-forward treatment that really works- but he did this annoying thing with sound dynamics where parts of songs are WAY too quiet on CD. The LP is supposed to have a new mix and I wonder if maybe it's one of those cases where the dynamics would simply be better on vinyl.

Okay, this is awkward and I stammer... but I have a weird reaction to certain things.
If there's something lacking, and I can provide it, I might just do it. In this case, there were no reviews or unboxing videos for this vinyl subscription service (I will often look to such things to figure out if I want something). Others will eventually do it better, and I can live with that.
...the The Gene Krupa/Buddy Rich album is great. ...couldn't get through the Millie Jackson album. It's not awful, but very "samey" I'll have to dedicate myself better to Court and Spark. Which is basically something I've thought I should do since I heard of the album. I admit that Joni has never immediately grabbed my attention. The Grover Washington Jr. double album has its moments. Good and bad. The track with the Jazz flute is one of those kinds of moments. Haven't plated the S&G or Motown comp.

Some Birthday extravagance:
Strum & Thrum: The American Jangle Underground 1983-1987 Beautifully produced 2 disc set of bands in the vein of Chronic Town era REM. I had a couple of these bands on college radio tapes, but none of these songs. 100 page oral history which I have not read yet.
Steven Wilson The Future Bites I posted the last song on Song of the day. Subtle, artificial, yet earnest. Still prefer his prog direction.
And speaking of prog, 2 compilations of UK "Progressive Pop." New Moon in the Sky (all from 1970) Peephole in My Brain (all from 1971) 3 discs each, overall very good, diverse selection and minimal overlap with what I already have.

Some Notes on Attunement - A voyage around Joni Mitchell.

(cheap nostalgia buy- it was actually the second album I ever bought myself as a kid (I really liked "Neutron Dance," featured in Beverly Hills Cop... which my neighbors let me watch) Soul II Soul - Get a Life single (mentioned elsewhere- from a free bin) also others from a free bin that I'll probably sell Digital albumsThe Presidents of the United States of America - Kudos to You IfIHadaHiFi - Live at Summerfest 2009 (I was at this concert- always wear earplugs to a HiFi show... even to an outdoor venue at a family friendly music festival) My new subscription box is on it's way, I think I'll do a quick follow-up video to my first.

Treat the camera as someone you are having a conversation with-even imagine you are talking with someone specific that you know well. Good luck to you on your future video adventures!

I did do the follow-up last week. A couple disappointments. No actual folk music, a blatant dip into their unsellable stock (Alfred Apaka actually had a dated $2.95 price tag that said "7-2016") and (discovered after filming) most of the album covers had split seams, thanks to their shipping practice. I haven't actually listened to much of it though. Got through The Early Ray Charles album, I never knew he sounded so smooth in his early days. I swear, he sounds like Nat King Cole on some of those tracks. The George Benson album was pretty good, especially the instrumentals. Definite marks of the time and Quincy production on it. "Give me the night" is such a 1980 track. The tail end of Disco influence, dance pop, only superficial marks of Benson's true jazz/soul self- but undoubtedly sing-a-long catchy. I need to figure out a way to play the audio on my stereo while keeping my PC video on though. It naturally did so on my previous receiver but this one won't do it. And I did get those two other new albums. The Rid of Me master truly is fantastic. Not a 180 gram, two disc set, but still great. Used my stimmy money to get a year long Vinyl Me Please subscription and ordered the Fiona Apple, Tidal album as my intro. They went so far in the Audiophile treatment on that one that it is a 2 disc set for a 10 track album... that plays at 45rpm. That treatment is another way to get good bass on a record. By using all the room on a disc you really can get those good bass drum sounds in "Sleep to Dream" etc. Next month will be my first to use the subscription to resell the album I get.
Sometimes I just do not get eBay buyers. These VMP albums regularly sell for twice the amount you get them for if you subscribe (with the occasional dud- Sleater-Kinney's selection is seeling for $10 on eBay) and as I don't like the one I'm getting thriough their "essentials track" (M.I.A.'s Kala) I'll be putting it aside to resell once it sells out. The system does give you the option to "swap" but the only other monthly album I would consider is their "country track" album, Willie Nelson's "Shotgun Willie"--- but it sold out immediately and they don't have extras... maybe I should switch to the country track. they just introduced it, so they will most likely be putting out some premeire selections. Their first selection was Johnny Cash's "at Folsom Prison"- and that also sold out immediately and is going for twice the purchase price on eBay.
