P.S.- bluedemon25, Clootie Dumplings look like Raisin Bread, except sort of like dry-ish muffins. What did you find out? + +

It's a food mentioned by a friendly dirty minded old lady witch character I like in the Discworld novel series. My understanding was it may be Scottish in origin and like many steamed or boiled puddings was traditionally done in a pudding or herr clootie cloth and may frequently currants sultanas and/or raisins and spices as desired.
I'd like to try one if I can ever eat that stuff again. I enjoyed making holiday puddings proper historical style when I had all family still with me to make celebrations tolerable for me. The whole steamed pudding category and many Brtish desserts are of much interest to me.

Sounds good Don. I also want to try a figgy pudding and battenburg cake. I made myself an Eton mess once. I quite liked the meringue part mixing well with all the rest of it. Good combination. A friend from work years ago made a very nice cranachan. Yummy boozey goodness. Mare, a slice of the day for you since I didnt see a birthday today.
