I don't like definitions, but if there is a definition of freedom, it would be when you have control over your reality to transform it, to change it, rather than having it imposed upon you. You can't really ask for more than that.

I find it strange to see a quote that begins with, "I don't like definitions." Who doesn't like definitions? We have words for a reason. If we can't agree on the definitions of words, then we might as well not have a fucking language. Sheesh.

The fact that there is a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic load.

Here is an old joke, definitely profane.
What is the definition of "indefinitely"?
If your balls are slapping her ass, then you are indefinitely.
I am not a nice person.

I was just flipping through the Introvertigo Dictionary. I noticed that the definitions for "humanity" and "assholes" were identical. Huh.

I was just flipping through the Introvertigo Dictionary. I noticed that the definitions for "humanity" and " assholes" were identical. Huh. Ironically enough, whenever I despair for mankind, I recall and attempt to practice a passage from a novel called " Uranus". In 1946, a schoolteacher who has survived, by sheer dumb luck, years of wartime horrors, atrocities, bombardments and death, tells two friends of how he copes with life when he wakes up from the same debilitating nightmare every morning: Je vous vois sourire, mais, moi, quand mon réveil me délivre, je suis comme le premier homme au matin du monde, dans le premier jardin ! Rien n’est mauvais dans l’homme."I see you smiling... But when sunrise sets me free at last, I'm like the very first man at the dawn of time, in the very first garden! My heart is bursting with admiration, joy, gratitude! I think of all the forests, the animals, the flowers, the elephants... Wonderful, elephants! And of Man. We cannot conceive of anything more beautiful or gentle than Man. His wars, his concentration camps, his works of justice... I see them as mere mischief, turbulences... Do they not have songs for their grief, their selfishness, their hypocrisy? The selfishness of a man is as adorable as that of a butterfly or a squirrel. Nothing is bad in Man." The novel was made into a brilliant movie in 1990 by the great Claude Berri, with Philippe Noiret, Jean-Pierre Marielle, Gérard Depardieu, Michel Blanc, Fabrice Luchini, Michel Galabru... The greatest stars of French cinema at the time. This macroscopic view of humanity really helps me keep things in perspective and appreciate the gift of life. I have even had a symbol of Uranus tattooed on my shoulder to remind me that there is good in the world, and especially in my children.

The shepherd drives the wolf from the sheep's throat, for which the sheep thanks the shepherd as his liberator, while the wolf denounces him for the same act as the destroyer of liberty. Plainly, the sheep and the wolf are not agreed upon a definition of liberty.

APHORISM, n. Predigested wisdom
The flabby wine-skin of his brain
Yields to some pathologic strain,
And voids from its unstored abysm
The driblet of an aphorism.
