Ned, is Cornelius associate with Anime? I listened to samples of the album (the first 45 sec. of each track) and got kind of a Fuzzy Warbles vibe from some of the songs. I Hate Hate and Fly are rather interesting. Someones, maybe sticksman, mentioned that they thought I'd like him when I mentioned some of the other Japanese bands I like. They weren't wrong. Very inventive, great musician. Other than being a weird japanese musician, he also has a lot in common with downtempo trip-hop, another type of music I just love to bits. I just saw that he composed the soundtrack to a series I plan to watch at some point (a Ghost in the Shell franchise series) but he's been recording for decades now and I think that's his first anime soundtrack. I just listened to some if it on youtube, pretty similar to Susumu Hirasawa's work for Satohi Kon... a great example to follow. He's also been on Hey Gabba Gabba... If I were a parent I don't think I'd let my kids watch any other kids show. yep, Here I am, complete with inevitable cat freak out and exhaustion from dancing for 2 minutes.

Ya, I wish Hey Gabba Gabba had been around when I was into shrubbery - what a trip that show is! I am a bit confused about the Cornelius clip. Is it a band or a person? Check out the clip with Devo it is excellent.
Sentimental Lady from Bare Trees (the album I'm presently listening to) is playing. What a beautiful song. RIP Bob Welch

I believe he plays just about every instrument on the actual albums, but that would be difficult to do live.

Sticksman1, congratulations on 100 posts. While I'm a fan of the MJQ, and purchase Lps whenever I find them, I'm always slightly disappointed in their studio recordings. They seem to be over produced. It's a shame that the group wasn't allowed to shine and swing as much as on the few live recordings that exist. Oh well, it's still great jazz, never to be repeated.
