I listened to old Andy on a podcast tonight. He never mentioned the APE though. It must be dead. But if miles can return then who knows?

I read Todd Rundgren's quasi memoir The Individualist. Sometimes revealing, usually glib, and generally entertaining. On the Skylarking sessions, I was expecting a lot more shade thrown at Andy. Todd's biggest beef was that Andy insisted on including Another Satellite on the record mid-recording, which Todd thought broke the sequence. Todd was simply wrong on this, it's one of the best songs on the album.
The two of them were oil and water, two control freaks with one set of levers. I think they both contributed to the hostility, and probably to the differeing accounts in the retelling. I'm not taking sides.

I think by "breaking the sequence" he meant it broke the "Day Passes" theme (day to night, birth to death, seasons of the year) that Todd insisted on. Whereas Andy just wanted the best "bunch of songs."
