I discovered Jazz via Sinatra. Loved his voice and delivery. Jazzers may frown, but the man could sell a song. Introduced me to the Great American Songbook. So many beautiful, beautiful songs. When you hear the right artist nail the right version? Sublime. Art of the highest caliber. And those chords!? Hey, this is Jazz, baby. Basie, Davis, Coltrane. Saw a 1940 Astaire movie the other day. Artie Shaw and band. They were absolutely cooking. Had this notion that the old white big bands were stiff & awkward....but these guys swung and kicked ass. Used a 7flat5 for the first time (deliberately) the other day. Felt like a real musician for a moment.....rambling....too much coffee...if you've read this far, thanks for your patience....
