If it were possible for one individual to have that much fun all by himself, why would he need to make everyone else so miserable?
If they WERE the same person, then HJ is NOT Paul C. Because Ducky posted after HJ 'left.'
But as I say: By and large, people believe whatever they want to believe.
Cicadashell - two words: Art Tatum. Two more: mind blown. (See Peggs' "Jazz" thread.)

There have been times that I've met new XTC Fans on Facebook, and thought they were him, but even though he told me he was on Facebook, he did not want to be friends there...he said he wanted to protect those closest to him.

He didn't make me miserable. But when I said that at the time one or two other people did their best to make me feel miserable. Lessons learnt all round I'd say.

Paul C WAS on Facebook - see links earlier in thread. When discussion of Paul C passing and being Honeydude J was going on, both on XTC Fan Facebook walls and on APE, I did check out his wall. I read back as far as there were posts. I went onto Chalkhills and attempted to work that thing, looking for clues for some kind of connection. I did not find one thing that made me sure they were one and the same person. I read the posts that went into proving that theory, which wasn't convincing, either. I guess I am on the fence about it, Jeffie T. I know how hard you tried to make peace and I remember things that made both of us wonder what he was implying...did I just jump to confusions, as I so often do? There is a good chance of that, and I am basing that on the larger number of times I have been wrong after coming to a quick conclusion. I don't know all the facts, so I can not make any rational conclusion. All I know is I am tired of having to make decisions and choices based on a stream of information that is edited/filtered/censored so no matter what I conclude, it has little bearing on reality.

Probably best we just let it go. People come and go and goodness knows what happens to them. Is this really any different? I mean what became of Allan K Hall? And whatever happens, this online nonsense is only a mere distraction from the real job of living.

Well I actually hope he ISN'T Paul C. Which would mean he's still around, and maybe even read this. Yeah, water under the bridge. But what is life if you don't learn some stuff along the way?

Yeah, water under the bridge. But what is life if you don't learn some stuff along the way? That is close to my current philosophy of life, Jeffie T...all I want to do is evolve and be a better person, bit by bit, every single, dangle day. I am really working hard at not being a judgmental person, which seems to be baked in to human nature. Forgive and forget? No. Forgive and learn. Yep. Have boundaries and don't put yourself into the position of being naive. Take a breath, reserve the right to commit until you have information, all around. There are rarely only two sides to a story.

And it's not always necessary or possible to forgive. But move on you must do and let time do it's thing.

Its hard to spot mental illness in real life and on the internet. I now have an internet three stikes rule. If somebody gets "under my skin" 3 times then they are gone! There is no point letting crap into your home - which is what you do with social media.
So far 3 people have fallen foul of the 3 strike rule. Not surprisingly Youie was one of them! But he is now back and on remand!
Whatever the story of the person though "trolling" really fucks up internet sites. It was lack of trolling that made idea so good.

... until someone trolls you - firstly on the site, then via email, as happened to me in 2005 after the Gathering... I found out who the perpetrator was after offensive mails were sent to my personal mail address. I managed to find out the faked mail address, and they didn't hide their IP address - so tracked it to a location...
I am not going to reveal who it was, other than it someone who was involved in the organisation of that Gathering.

It's also important not to label someone a troll just because they have different opinions and a different approach. It's all too easy to call someone a troll because they don't quite fit in with the in-crowd. Or you just don't like them. Forums usually suffer when things get a bit too cliquey. I never considered Jack a troll. If you didn't rise to his sometimes volatile approach, he dropped that side of his character. Well he did in my case anyway. By trying to sort him out, you just "fed the beast."
