Honeycomb Jack, now aided by a fellow traveler named Duck Soup.
I always though Jack was Ducky. The same person. No? Or am I missing something? I could never keep up with people who posted under various names.

It seemed like a strong possibility, Duck Soup has also not been heard from, whatever that means.

I also always thought they were the same person. Duck was the only person Jack never fought with. Or am I imagining that?

Or he made himself laugh, maybe.

If they were the same, he had an immense talent of talking to himself. I discounted that they were they same because of the rapidity of "their" back and forth conversations.

Hardly a talent. And the rapid responses would be more of a suggestion that they were the same person. Yeah?

Ducky & Jack weren't the same person. Ducky was British, whereas Jack was Australian. I could (and did) get through to, and made a tentative peace with, Ducky, whereas I couldn't with Jack after a point. (PM'd extensively with both.)
Ducky DID post a few times after Jack's absence. Their senses of humor were very similar, but their writing styles were different enough to tell. They were pals - on line, anyway.

Could have been a sophisticated guise, Jeff.

Like chatting under two identities at the same time. With the least amount of work it would require two browsers both open to the forum under your different guises, type in one, instantly switch to the other to type a response, back and forth ad naseum, keeping constant track of "who you are" while typing. These days a two monitor set-up might help but that wasn't common then... so, constant window switching or maybe two devices.

Sigh. Honeydude J, as I called him, was someone that I communicated with by PM on the APE Forum...he told me he was a lurker on the IDEA Forum. I was under the impression that he was British, no one I'd ever met before he was on APE, and really seemed concerned about the vitriol with which he was attacked. More than once he was vehement about leaving the forum, thinking it was for the best for everyone. The way I want everyone to feel included and comfortable, I probably coerced him into staying long past the time when he knew he should scram. There have been times that I've met new XTC Fans on Facebook, and thought they were him, but even though he told me he was on Facebook, he did not want to be friends there...he said he wanted to protect those closest to him. What was exaggeration, fabrication, truth or just plain made up stuff, I do not know, any more. There were things I really liked about him, for instance his quick wittedness and the way he discussed literature with me. So it goes.

I guess we'll never know the full story, but he seemed somewhat a private person, so it's probably best that way.
