Yes, I noticed this morning as there were several Facebook posts about it. Quite cool but .... will his song/songs make it to the album? Trust me, I'm not trying to throw a monkey wrench (no pun intended) into this but lets not forget the James And The Giant Peach disaster. Hopefully things won't end up like that.

Yeah, I hope not, but Andy seemed optimistic on Twitter.

Andy has since tweeted that his song "You Bring the Summer" has been accepted. Congrats to AP.

According to a twitter feed for the Monkees (don't know if it is an official band feed), Andy's song has already been chosen as the first single. Woo hoo!

This is pretty nifty. I’m especially intrigued by the old songs being made new.
Reading about the potential Harry Nilsson/Mickey Dolenz duet is exciting, as I have the utmost respect for the talent of Mr. Nilsson (as a person he has been portrayed as being a bit of an ass). A new Michael Nesmith tune sounds promising as well (I’m a fan of his solo work - check it out if you are unfamiliar), as does a renewed Neil Diamond song. It will be interesting to hear what the musicians and producer do with the ‘Andy Partridge sound’.
I'm vaguely familiar with Weezer and Death Cab. Those of you who know, how do you think these bands sound will translate to adult pop?

I put in an order for the new Monkees cd last night. May 27 is slated as the release date.

When the time comes and you've had a serious listening session or two, please write a review of you thoughts bout it.

I have heard two songs from the album; Andy's, 'You Bring the Summer' and Rivers Cuomo's, 'She Makes Me Laugh'. Both are fine examples of bubblegum pop but I guess I was expecting more 'grownup' lyrics. Jeez, these guys are in their 70s for Pete's sake! Whatever... Mickey Dolenz's voice is spectacular! While I enjoy and appreciate both songs, She Makes Me Laugh is the winner with its killer! chorus. -----------------

I have since heard a Michael Nesmith tune, Me and Magdalena. Haunting and melancholy are the words that come to mind. Mike and Mickey's harmonies are a thing of beauty. After hearing it, I put on some Gram Parsons to continue the mood. Who'd a thunk that 45+ years later I would be looking forward to a Monkees record? I am eagerly awaiting my copy of the album to arrive in the mail!

Listened to all three: tremendous! You Bring the Summer is an XTC/Dukes number, though.....
