Is using a knitting machine cheating? Only if you are married to a thimble.

Knitting is, or course, a sport. In fact, I just saw an update on this year's championship--the score is all knotted up.

This sport always gets a boost this time of year thanks to the traditional Christmas jumper. Heart-warming. Get your needles out and sign up at your local knitting gym. A good route to competitive knitting for all skill levels.

A good route to competitive knitting for all skill levels. Given the high suicide rate this time of year, "traditional Christmas jumper" could have a rather sinister meaning in certain contexts--if I were one of these ugly-Christmas-sweater-wearing folk, I might consider jumping, too. But I'm not, and I won't--despite my dour appearance, I like being alive.
