Remember when automation would free up lots of leisure time for everyone? And the internet will create a worldwide community. The internet is a mall like Don says, apparently ruled by bullies and hate-filled cretans. I used to comment on various sites (other than this one), but it now seems like a hopeless gesture, there is a continual race to say the most ignorant, ugly and cruel words available. I know people are hooked on FB and it becomes their primary form of non- verbal communication, but like so much of the internet, it has been weaponized and is toxic.
I agree that it is better to find common ground with someone than engaging in pointless arguments. I think this is better done in conversation than inflammatory postings and insults. This being said, I have no time or desire to engage haters.

Miles the best times on the internet was in the times of the early adaptors. The whole internet was more thoughtful and intelligent. Once it became a mass market object then it changed.

There's this guy I went to school with as a teenager. He now lives in the Florida Keys. On Facebook yesterday, he posted this ridiculous video by some idiot which applauded Trump pulling out of the climate agreement. So, you know, I had to say something. I was very restrained. All I wrote was, "You still live in the Keys, right?"
He got huffy, and told me I should worry about my own backyard. Those were his exact words.
What the fuck does he think I AM worried about?

Obviously the best way to deal with these people is to ignore them. But that's not my way. The long answer is: "Remember when the GOP was the Party of Personal Responsibility? Boy those days are gone. Try taking some personal responsibility for a change. Stop sounding like the whiney little bitch you are. Get off your fucking cross. And take Trump's cock out of your potty mouth." The short answer is: "Trumpanzees."

But if you only have love for your own race Then you only leave space to discriminate And to discriminate only generates hate And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah Madness is what you demonstrate And that's exactly how anger works and operates Man, you gotta have love just to set it straight Take control of your mind and meditate Let your soul gravitate to the love....
