I would ask peggs, since she started this thread, but she hasn't been around for a long time.

Too long.
Has your love for XTC faded a bit over the years?

Not really. I may not listen to the band as often, but that is more that I have increased my music collection a lot in the last fifteen years or so, so I have more options, but I still love the band, second only to my idol Buddy Holly.

I think the early stuff is still brilliant and Wasp Star is still a fave. AP Venus 1 still gets me now and again. But the stuff inbetween is a bit dated and I tend to skip.
I stopped buying records years ago because it was one new song on an EP where you already had the other two tracks. What about you?

If by records we mean vinyl format albums yes, as I user to like getting them cheap secondhand but they take up so much space and I'm not willing to part with what U enjoy plus I prefer media that doesn't degrade through the act if playing it and with easy skip or repeat track capabilities. As far as records meaning an album in general such as on cd, I buy them and shall continue as I want permanent ownership if I'm buying something not streaming only available to the whim of some powers that may be which could remove access or similar at some point. Not to mention I can cheaply make backup copies for myself and also digitally. I haven't run into the issue of an album itself having repeat tracks. That said in the very rare almost nonexistent situation (as far as I've personally encountered, perhaps once only with Weird Al), if an EP on cd is being released and I know nothing exclusive appeara than I just wait for the full album or in the above mentioned case "Al-bum."
Ok, my previous question for those who haven't responded yet, favorite drink/cocktail either currently or in the past if you dont currently drink?

I've spent the last few years buying used vinyls from the 50s to the 80s. Once in a blue moon, I'll splurge on a CD.
Oops! Favourite cocktail by far: Piña colada!
Has anyone here bought music on a streaming service? I'll admit that I've converted YouTube videos into MP3s, but I've never paid for digital songs.

I've paid for Spotify when it's been on offer for three months or so. But I've never paid for a download as such for me to keep. It's just there for free if you want to listen without breaking any laws. Might not be great for the artists but I never made the rules.
Should we worry about people getting ripped off when no one gives two fucks about us getting ripped off. I've had a pay cut for the last ten years. Has it turned into a dog eat dog world or has it always been so?

Has it turned into a dog eat dog world or has it always been so? I worry about my loved ones and friends being taken advantage of by others who would manipulate them and rip off their ability to make choices based on fact. That really worries me. Sorry to hear about the extended pay cut, donavan. Eras of expansion of civilization seem to be brilliant, but usually become eclipsed by war or the other things that usually bring positive social development to a grinding halt...famine, enslavement & genocide, pandemics, economic stupidity which comes from cronyism...all these things take us back to worse than before. Have you ever had a Muse-someone who inspired you to be the best you can be at something?

Should we worry about people getting ripped off when no one gives two fucks about us getting ripped off. Perhaps we have reached a tipping point. I mentioned Ohio's Issue 1 fight in another thread. While early voting favors liberal voters, the early returns have been in greater numbers than anyone expected, and with any luck, Issue 1 will go straight to the shitter where it belongs. My worry is that liberal voters will trey to effect change through the ballot box, and conservatives will 1. try to invalidate the will of the voters through political shenanigans and 2. resort to more violent insurrections as they realize a majority of the country is tired of the right's bullshit.

Well over here Labour councils are pushing ahead with charging people who drive older vehicles. Penalising people with old cars for causing pollution. Why do people have old cars? Because they are on low wages and can't afford a new car. Therefore traditional Labour voters. Remember when we were encouraged to buy a diesel car? Now diesel car owners pay the most for fuel and will be fined for polluting the air. The fuckers make it up as they go along. Don't trust any of them. And don't get me started on climate change. Yes it's real, yes it's been going on since the begining of time. The rest they tell us is mostly bullshit.

Reduce fossil fuels without the poor and lower income people (and nations) bearing the brunt, while the rich continue to fly around in private jets. I won't get you started if I can help it.

The proportion of pollution caused by driving old cars is small compared to the shit put out by industry, and in this specific case, people heating their homes coupled with the fumes from diesel-powered lorries and buses. The energy used in making the new cars and scrapping the old "polluting" ones is also a major factor. As usual, they're targeting the wrong people.
