I've just begun David Michaelis's biography of Charles M. Schulz.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

I've just begun David Michaelis's biography of Charles M. Schulz. I'll let you know how it turns out. We lived in Santa Rosa for over a decade. Schultz lived in the area and built an ice skating rink for the locals, connected to a museum of his work. I've read he suffered from depression, not unusual in creative types and everybody else as well.

I have been reading the latest James Ellroy novel, This Storm. Not as good as his earlier novels, but I do think it is better than the novel that preceded This Storm--Perfidia. I will say it is the best novel with a big swastika on the cover that I have read.

To be honest, I'm not sure I can answer that, as I realized that having read The Cold Six Thousand and Blood's a Rover years ago, I have never reread them, despite intending to do so a number of times, so I don't remember a whole lot about them. I'll have to let you know once I finally get back to them (also, I have misplaced The Cold Six Thousand, so I may to order a new copy from Scamazon).

They had a powerful trajectory and some good touches like the correspondence between J.Edgar Hoover and the agents. Understanding that conspiracy theory is central to the story, it still lingers in a sort of grey zone for me, re plausibility and character motivation. I enjoyed the Vegas sections after living there long ago, close to the timeline of the plot.
