but Cpt BH doesn't do it for me. Anyone wanna post something by the captain that might tickle me fancy?
Or has that ship sailed?

+1 on the Captain. I just don't get what all the fuss is about.

Try another captain, Captain Sensible of the Damned! Some of his solo work (1979-97 or thereabouts) is brilliant.

Elvis Costello, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits
All serious and beloved figures. There are 100s of artists I would play first.
If I haven't outraged everyone enough, Neil Young has produced a bunch of well intentioned but nearly unlistenable records in the last decade.

Very amusing miles, thanks. Thing is with BH, I just can't be arsed even giving it a go. I can fully understand someone getting into them with the enthusiasm I got into XTC all those years ago. But now it's all I can do to listen to a favourite XTc track without skipping to the next one.

Donavan, your statement reminded me of radio program discussion I heard this week. The speaker said, in effect, people generally stop seeking out new musical artists or genres around the age of 35. Of course there are plenty of exceptions; heavens, look at Mr Tein and his wide ranging gig list. But for many people, sticking with known musical commodities provides enough pleasure and comfort in life. Nothing wrong with that.
Miles, I agree with you on Neil Young's recording output. I was once a serious fan of his (all the albums, multiple concerts) but gave up listening to him somewhere in the 90's. To be honest with you, with the exception of a few covers I've heard him do lately, I don't even know what kind of music Mr. Young has been making for the past dozen years.

Did Captain Beefheart ever meet Wolfman Jack? And if they did meet, what did they talk about? How to, at all times, maintain the gravely tone in your voice? Maybe it was sharing secrets of growing the perfect beatnik beard. We know one thing for sure, if they did meet, it was in the desert. Or a drive-in.

These two with Tom Waits woul d have been a hell of a trio

You're a funny man there, donavan. Your link is to a non-video that states, "This video has been removed for violating YouTube's policy on spam, deceptive practices, and scams." Must've been one helluva album.

Must've been one helluva album. Works for me. It is about the new album titled, Lemonade. I was surprised I liked it. But I do, a lot.
