Made potage parmentier for the main course, and apple, pear and banana crumble for dessert while listening to Drums and Wires.
Complicated Game will never grow on me.

My wife made the most fantastic Sunday roast this evening. And she washed up too. What a star x

I had a steak, baked potato, and corn for supper. I have simple tastes.

A couple days ago we went to our favorite italian restaurant ( a rare occasion) We shared an incredible bowl of clams and mussels in tomato-white wine wine sauce, with capers and olives. Eaten with slabs of crusty sourdough bread to soak up the goodness I'm still thinking about it. The pasta was good too. Lat night was more typical, vegetarian chili incorporating some overripe tomatoes. Many of our menus are determined by what is about to spoil.

Made tandoori chicken and rice with chickpea sauce for the kids. Me, more black rice w/ veggies, coriander and mango chutney, washed down with (so far) half-a-bottle of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon.
Rough week. The fresh corn on the cob and stringbeans have left the markets.

Was in the mood for Phở soup. Had no bean sprouts, green onions or lime, so I made do with kidney beans and chopped yellow onions, celery, green peppers, mushrooms and cilantro, along with the rice noodles and Phở stock. A dash of sriracha to spice things up. Quite the bastard mixture, but hit the spot.

Big pot of homemade veggie chili, enough for at least 6 meals. Black beans, kidney beans, lentils, mushrooms, celery, carrots, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, cumin, chili powder, sriracha. As a reward for shedding a bit more weight, I also made some golden sweet cornbread muffins, and they. are. to. die. for. Tried a new recipe. Yum. I made vols-au-vent for the children, a thrice-yearly treat.

Had mediocre pizza with friends last night. Don't see them often so the food was not the focus. A festive mood prevailed, we were on campus and the Ducks were winning their game, the student's general mood was happy, although maybe just because it was Saturday night.
Tonight i am making a mushroom and sausage spaghetti style sauce (lots of onion and garlic) that, like Terra's chili, will feed us on subsequent evenings. Served over spaghetti, penne or rigatoni, with crumbled feta.

Which game were the Ducks winning? Monopoly? Charades? Maybe Jenga?

So much for a rousing game of Duck, Duck, Goose, I suppose.

Yes the ducks run amok in Eugene. They beat Cal Berkeley on Sat. It is different living in a college town. To a large extent the sports department exert dominance over academics here, sadly, this is largely due to Nike's owner giving them big bucks specifically for athletics.
Last night we ate out again (birthday events) I had an ahi salad, (it was good) my wife had a burger and onion rings.

Open-faced sandwiches: four slices from a freshly baked multigrain loaf, grilled to golden perfection, covered with chopped, olive-oil sautéed onions, green peppers and mushrooms and topped with melted brie.
