Most of the time I'm a pretty optimistic, levelheaded person. Well, I am at least some of the time anyway. But not tonight. Tonight I am feeling very abused and put upon. Why? I have to work tomorrow and Friday, and there is a major music festival going on in town. Something's just not right with that picture, folks.
So, I'm going to pitch a little fit here about the injustice of it all. My advice for you is to stay away. Never try to interrupt a tantrum, as long as no one is really getting hurt. Just let it play out until the child gets it out of her system. I'm hoping to feel better after this thread is all over.

The first thing that makes me want to cry is that I will miss the unique Klezmer-meets-the-Caribbean stylings of the Panorama Jazz Band. Know what I'll be doing while they're playing tomorrow? Probably filing some shit or listening to someone complain about something. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ynsv3fD7Jg

Susan Cowsill, with her voice of an angel, will also do her set tomorrow-without me! God only knows what heavy-hitters she'll have playing in her band. The idiots talking in this clip will probably be there too, yakking it up while she's trying to sing. I'll be doing the petty cash disbursement. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXa4t557SD0

Throw a sickie. Then go to the gigs in disguise.

If the Lord is willing and the creek don't rise, Friday will dawn anew. However, I will still be chained to my desk. The more liberated among us may choose to partake in what I am sure will be a very fine set by Aurora Nealand and the Royal Roses. www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9c3qgtn4MwThis is not the Royal Roses, but they'll probably do this gorgeous Sidney Bechet song too Friday. Just to rub my nose in it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjobFJFX1Wc

Throw a sickie. Then go to the gigs in disguise. If only I could! Unfortunately, I am in a position of some authority. And I'd never get away with it. No one would ever believe I was really sick on the first day of the French Quarter Festival. Not unless I was willing to walk around in a fake cast or something for a couple of weeks. Although, one of you could call my office with a phony "family emergency", I guess. Start working on your American accent now, don. In the meantime, I'll go back to pitching my fit.

And the Nightcrawlers, who almost NEVER gig around town anymore, are playing Friday as well. In what universe is this fair? www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps02zjb1WFEI think I must be working off a karmic debt.

Okay, I think I'm done. I'm going to go cry into my pillow now. G'night!
