The big day is on its way. Check out the Record Store Day website Lots of interesting information, cool videos and links to specific RSD European sites. My workplace is part of the celebration, with a raffle for one of these... ...customized with DogFish Head Ale artwork: Will you be leafing through the bins looking for something special?

Sadly, this event lost its appeal to me. The first few years were okay but now people will be outside my nearest store by at least two in the morning. Most of these all nighters will take one copy each of all the best stuff, rush home and sell it on ebay. By the time I get there I may be lucky that something I want is still there but probably not. I buy records all year but for the one big day my loyalty is not rewarded ( not the shops fault I know!)
Quite a few record shops are dropping out as the cost of the stock they dont sell is greater than the profit and the outlay is a big risk for many of them.
It needs a rethink..

Really good points there, Mr. Tein. I agree with you about the folks who buy just to sell on ebay. I'd not heard about shops opting out due to loss of profits; make sense though. I imagine in bigger cities it is really a problem and an annoyance. Whereas in my little town, with one record store (mostly used stock), it is a fun celebration of music that doesn't draw a very big crowd.

I went, Peggs! I had a blast with my daughter and picked up some real treasures! Lots of colored vinyl, a formerly out of print Neko Case album (red vinyl!) and quality time with Allie! It is something of a tradition for us to go to Record Store Day together.

Couldnt go this year. Anyway hopefully Memphis Industries. ( Field Musics record label) have a copy of the FM Drfiters album with my name on it which they will ship to my localish) Vinyl store. The guys there are also trying to source the Youung Guns EP for me.
Trying not to use EBAY.
Bizzare that my local record store has 5 copies of the Biffy Clyro album from RSD album for sale and they are being bid on ebay for £90.00!!!

I assume Record Store Day was postponed because of Covid-19, but at least it was still Don Day.
