I am vicariously experiencing what it is like to have children through you two. Next year my wife and I will have been married 35 years. At no time did we ever want to have kids, and for many years were ill suited temperamentally or financially to assume that responsibility. Which we were mature enough to recognize.

If you thought about it too much nobody would have kids. Maybe that's irresponsible but looking back I'm not sure how I made it through. But I did and it all turned out ok. Which is massive and is the biggest achievement of my life. Of course I include my wife in this. I never initially wanted kids but it just somehow evolved. But if for some reason we couldn't have had them it wouldn't have crushed me. Can't say the same for my wife. But so happy we did. It is what it is whatever people decide and it's all alright.

Actually these should go in the significant posts thread. Sounds like a great day Terra. Perhaps The Kids Room thread would be more appropriate

Perfect Sunday fall weather, so took the kids to an apple festival, today -- 'tis the season. Picked four bagfuls of different varieties of apples, pears and grapes, petted some farm animals, went poney- and hay-riding, and topped it all off with a baguette-and-cheese picnic.

Sometimes I don't think I stood and radiated correctly.

Did someone mention The Mighty Fall, ?

Twofer, today -- Both boys to the orthodontist's for a bit of trauma. My younger son got his bottom braces to complete the set, while his older brother had his first installed (the top).
The youngest is due next year. My oldest daughter is the only one with straight teeth.

The youngest is due next year. My oldest daughter is the only one with straight teeth. In an indirect way having braces as a teenager, made me into a music fan. I had to wear this headset apparatus for 8 hours a day. I refused to wear it during school, so I had to wear it when I slept. This was not always easy, it kept me awake, so my grandparents got me a clock radio to listen to when I had insomnia. KYA was on all night, I left it on low and if a good song came on I turned it up. There were a lot of good songs on AM circa 1966-67, and being a local San Francisco station, late night played more obscure and controversial tunes. I first heard Phil Ochs, and Country Joe and the fish on late night with Russ"The Moose" Syracuse.

I listened to The John Peel show. Introduced me to the world I had going on in my head. Thanks John.

The kids have heard Messieurs Moulding and Chambers' Naked Flames so many times this past week that they've all been humming Generals and Majors on their way out to school.
