Here is a little homespun song from... someone. It's a song for all those old geezers (like me), who have a bit of the nerd in them, and go back to the old home computers (Commodore 64).

Listening to this reminded me of something. When my parents bought my brother and me our first cd player, Faith No More's "The Real Thing" was the first compact disc I ever owned. Nice to see they haven't vanished.

Temples--Shelter Song
I first heard this song when a guy named Andy Partridge posted this as Song of the Day on the APE Forum. That fellow has a good ear for music.

Nice to see they haven't vanished. It was the first CD I bought for myself too. (I was gifted B52's Cosmic Thing and ZZ Top's... um... Recycler? along with the player... both long gone) I guess I don't really know what Billy Gould or Roddy Bottom have been doing the past 18 years but I know Mike Bordin has been a session drummer of choice for metal bands the entire time and of course Mike Patton puts out something extremely loud and/or weird every year or two.

This one was passed along by a co-worker today; now I've been humming/singing it all day. Think of it what you will, it's a lovely song and Ms. Carpenter had a beautiful voice. Written by the king of 70's saccharine, Paul Williams.

Matthew Sweet--Girlfriend

re: Matthew Sweet - Girlfriend. It was the very first CD I bought. When I heard the 'atmospheric' sounds of a vinyl record on the disc(not knowing it was deliberate), I thought the CD was defective and returned it to the record store. When the second CD had the same problem I realized it was an effect and was rather upset that Mr. Sweet would do such a thing. Vinyl was on its way out but not dead yet and I took issue with the apparent lack of respect. silly woman Great album though - then and now.
