In honor of the Back Porch:
My dad decided to do some repairs to my front porch this week, making it look better than it has in years. I am thankful, but I wish he would have told me beforehand. It was a bit disorienting to come home from work one day last week to find several boards missing. I thought at first someone had hacked off a few planks for his own devious reasons, possible as clubs for smashing baby seals or as the base for a pine-based nuclear weapon. Wood not you have come to the same conclusion?

If you access this place through a not so smart smart phone, like I do, you get a much reduced forum experience. Which is why I'm sometimes a bit more off-kilter than usual.
That's my excuse anyway.
My day was good. Bed in a min. Night.

I had a good at work and an excellent massage afterward. Can't beat that with a stick.

One horrible day. Some jackoff stole into my house last night and lifted my wallet. Inside was a spare car key, so then the guy came back and stole my car. Fortunately, the car was found undamaged, and I had no cash in my wallet, but now I have to replace my credit cards and driver's license, plus I had to pay to have my car towed back to town. All in all, the situation could have been much worse, but I would still like to find the guy and give him four or five kicks to the gonads.

But then you would be as bad as him/her. And you don't want or need that. Sorry for your distressing situation. You are amongst friends here. Hope this helps. If only in a small way.

It's a bit late but, Happy Halloween everyone. [<]Mini rant:[>] I heard a story on the radio this morning about how this day has become very big business in the UK. Hundreds of thousands of pumpkins are grown and sold simply for display (and not used for anything else) and hundreds of thousands of pounds are spent on candy and decorations. I'm sorry the American Capitalists Running Dogs have ruined a perfectly nice day for you all. Here in the States, in 2007, the candy lobby was powerful enough to persuade lawmakers to extend Daylight Savings Time past Oct.31; all in aid of retailers in their quest for more money spent on cheep plastic crap and candy. [<]End of mini rant[/>]

Here is something even worse, Peggs. Earlier this week, the store I work at has already begun playing Christmas music. I may be insane by the end of November (although some have doubts about my sanity already). Happy Halloween!

This just gets worse and worse.
I was in a store the other day where they followed Joni Mitchell and (early) Elvis Costello with Smashmouth and Barenaked Ladies.
I mean, Wilco Tango Foxtrot.

1.3 tonnes of sable grapes and 1 tonne of chardonnay from the vineyard, well on course for the projected 16 tonnes overall. Last of the grapes harvested this Friday

Wow, those are some impressive numbers, chrisb. How much wine will 16 tons of grapes make? And what keeps you busy at the winery during the winter months?
