I'm always amazed at how little the folks on this forum (and other incarnations of XTC forums) really aren't huge drivers; just do it for necessity. I'm not criticizing as I am one too. I'm no different and only drive out of necessity as I would rather walk or take my bike. Like peggs, I live in a small city (pop. 51, 000) but it can be a PITA to get around at times and we have several troublesome intersections. I'm also centrally located to most amenities, but the grocery store is a hike !! Still a walkable distance, but a hike carrying stuff. I'm only a block and a half from the beer store though; it's over and up the next street from me. 'Tis a bonus since I do drink beer but I would like to know how much money I've spent there in the last 22 years that I've owned this house !!

The guy working at the liquor store greets me by name. I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
It could be worse, though. My friend Ed went the same thing some years back, if you replace "liquor store" with "adult book store." It made his trips for whacking material a bit awkward.

Suzi, I like the term 'beer store'. Introvertigo, when the guy at the liquor store starts putting your order together when he sees your car pulling into the parking lot, then it might be time to start worrying.

I've been enjoying the new Pugwash, Play This Intimately (As If Among Friends), the last few days. I'm not sure when the cd comes out (their Pledge Music page says it is 35 days or two weeks--maybe that is some crazy Irish method of counting time, Dog bless my great-great-grandfather's Irish soul), but I recommend it whenever it becomes available.

I've moved from a small college town to megasprawlville and changed jobs and bought a new (to me!) car and my wife has gotten a full-time job and my book has been published all since May 18. It's a lot of new. Good, because the old was killing me, but a lot of new. Whew! Glad you lot are still here.

Great day at the races. Good weather, a few winners and a top hotel. Now how to figure out how to refill and recap the mini bar bottles.

Today I took the shell off my racing snail, thinking it would make him go faster.
If anything, it made him more sluggish.

Went to Old Trafford yesterday to watch my team lose in the Rugby Super League Grand Final. There was another game going on across town at City's ground. No idea of the outcome of that one.
