forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/next-xtc-5-1-reissue-the-big-express.1167932/I hadn't heard of this anywhere and thought I would ask if anyone else has or what you guys think of this. For me I'm certainly excited if any of the albums get more of those releases. I was especially fond of the outtakes and demos. I wasn't clear on if he was actively searching for missing tracks for the album still or not. I thought when he was on Twitter he implied it was quite costly to search for the multitracks and while crappy that is that the place that hosted them with charging to search for it because they misplaced it but that was how it was. It sounded like it wasn't going to be pursued much but I'd be very happy to be wrong.

No hate from me for any of the albums. I think they all have something good on it. As for big express I must admit I'm a little less familiar with it and Mummer compared to some of the earlier and later albums I favor more but that's just an opportunity for me to dig in and remind myself. I see the Wikipedia was updated on the big express page to mention that's the next one so I'm hoping there really is something to this. Even more so I'm hoping to keep going and aggressively search so that we might get most if not all the albums. I don't know if they've confirmed that truly everything is gone for some of them or not. I know there were a few tracks on English settlement that were said to be lost or something to that effect but I wasn't sure if that was known permanently gone or just we haven't found it yet and it's with searches so far not turned up.
As far as I'm concerned the more XTC we get the better.

I'll have to listen more when I'm not in headache mode to be able to handle music and get back to you on mine.
On an alternate note I figured it was no loss of mine to send a brief email to burning shed inquiring about both that comment in the YouTube video that seem to be something maybe official as well as that the Wikipedia page though uncited now says at the bottom for big express that that's the next one expect 2023 cuz the tapes have been found If they had any comments. They said they were unaware of anything. I'm not expecting it but just in case I said okay if you would please let me know if you find anything on a form of ecstasy fans and I'm sure at least some of us would be rather excited for that news and I would share it. Figured it's free publicity for them so on the very off chance maybe they'd let me know if they hear anything They do put out sneak peek stuff on their Twitter so who knows. Looking at the track list indeed few I know few less so did it with mummer but I'd absolutely want to get all of them so here hopes for one more and others to continue in the future. Really bummed that what my understanding was for wasp star and Apple Venus that there are elements they recorded that couldn't be duplicated and without finding stuff some possible The minute sound like some of it was truly lost but it wasn't articulated in a manner that was obviously definitive to me so I don't know if it was like we're sure they're lost but we're not completely sure and we might look or knowing hell. Guess we'll just have to see.

I'm done buying copious copies of what I already own. Love the band, yes, the band. Beyond that, I'm not interested. The barrel has been sufficiently scraped. No more please. It's becoming a bit unsavoury.

Well at least in my neck of the woods they don't come selling door to door with implied threats so hopefully you'll be lucky too and not have anyone threatening you to purchase if you don't care for it ;P
I guess that doesn't prevent sSeagulls Screaming at you though, bye it fuckwit! ;P
As for me I'm excited so I'll just hang on to that for myself I guess and anyone else who might feel that way and wishes to discuss it.

No threats in my house, are there dear? Did I make that clear?
Or even mention it?

I'm glad you are excited, blue. I'm not taking anything away from you. It's just I'm done with that side of things. Both valid viewpoints.
I guess a couple less drinks and now I've heard the truth shining out like sun on an average English winter's afternoon.

So this text below is a mess but it is supposed to be essentially copying and pasting what a forum member on a music discussion board of belong to posted in the dedicated Steve Wilson XTC Blu-ray stuff thread. I guess it was a link that was prematurely listed with this wall of text and pulled now but it does seem to support or suggest at least more evidence that the big express Steve Wilson kind of stuff is indeed coming out. I believe it's originally linked to an Instagram account hence the hashtags in style. Below is the wall a text make of it what you will:

This was just posted on the Steve Hoffman forum. I'm aware some of you have no interest but I'm excited So for any who might also be I'm sharing.
From Jonathan Jacques via the Chalkhills facebook group: Those who were lucky enough to bag a ticket for the first listen of the first XTC to be mixed in Dolby Atmos and played back in a phenomenal 18.1.12 speakered room were in for an incredible treat but also a few surprises – we were joined after the playback by none other than Steven Wilson who mixed the album, Pete Phipps who drummed and added percussion and our very own Dave Gregory on good-humoured if quietly spoken form.
Andy Partridge introduced the album through a pre-recorded, pre-playback message in which he described how the new Atmos mix would lift your head off like the lid of a pedal bin. He also explained that there were elements of many of the songs, counterpoints, backing vocals throughout that he ‘d completely forgotten over the last 40 years as they’d been buried so deep in the stereo mix.
He wasn’t wrong. From the first angular guitar clangs of ‘Wake up’ and its haunting backing vocals to the three additional b-sides of ‘Red brick dream’, ‘Wash away’ and ‘Blue Overall’ all mixed in Atmos – this was a truly immersive and joyous experience. This album may not have included the pop hit that the record company was looking for in 1984 but it’s jammed pack full of gems, which was clear for all to hear when given the space available in the sound stage here.
The album closer ‘Train running low on soul coal’ was for me probably the pick of the bunch as an incredible visceral experience which literally positioned your ears inside the boiler as the pistons of the titular ‘Great Express’ as it strained to push past Didcot. That said, many others such as ‘This world over’, ‘Seagulls screaming kiss her, kiss her’ and ‘Shake you donkey up’ also showed even more of their true qualities in this format.
Andy had also taken time up front to explain the important use of more angular and syncopated rhythms throughout such as the percussion including programmed drums and sheet metal, synths, euphonium even, as wholly intentional to create the sense of energy and industry in many of his songs especially those that evoke the musical landscape of Swindon such as ‘The everyday story of Smalltown’.
At the end, Dave Gregory explained that this was previously one of his least loved and certainly played XTC albums but hearing in Dolby Atmos it worth re-considering and re-appraising its place in the catalogue with which I very much concur!
We heard that the album is likely to be released in September, I’d imagine with a blu-ray. Will there be more? Steven Wilson, explained that there is now an agency at work run by an XTC fan determined on tracking the master tapes down. So far ‘The Big Express’ is the only full set discovered but hearing that there’s four tracks of ‘English Settlement’ gives hope to everyone dreaming of that one!
Equally as this is the first XTC project that Steven has mixed in Atmos - the question is whether he and the band would consider returning to the albums he’s already remixed in 5.1. Steven swooned at the thought of what he might do with the bee in ‘Skylarking’ and the fun he could have with the Dukes’ ‘Psurroundabout ride’. The answer is of course, pur-lease!!

The 3-D spacial surround sound of barrel scraping was particularly impressive.
