You should try playing American football, Don--you would make a good quarterback.

I see Don as a punt returner.

Anyone with Super Bowl plans? I will likely go to my dad's house to watch the game, perhaps see if he and stepmom want me to make some chicken and provolone subs.

I will watch at home. It'll just be me unless I can convince my cat to sleep in proximity to the TV. The 49ers have had 2 back to back comeback victories. Will their luck hold? Purdy is one of the most unlikely sports heroes in a while. Taylor Who?

It's on in the early hours here so I usually watch it whilst sleeping. It's such a dragged out stop start affair that it's the perfect remedy for insomnia.

It is designed so you can eat, drink, converse (or sleep) and generally ignore the actual game. It's been said some people watch it for the commercials, but that was a few years ago when creative commercials were more rare.
I watch it with the sound off, unless there is some penalty call I need to hear. Most of the announcers are terrible, some rise to mediocre.

The half time show is more hyped than the game. It's 'Usher' this year, so not a lot to wake up for.

The halftime show I remember was Michael Jackson with a stage full of children. It took on a different aspect a couple of years later.

I don't think I ever really watched for the game only for commercials. I remember in college getting together with friends that were watching more for the sake of drinking beer and sharing time with friends than for my watching the game. Oh and the food. When I have heard the recent halftime's promoted it doesn't really sound like artists I thought were particularly current and relevant or still a big deal. I have to agree with your assessment Don. The Puppybowl and the cat related one are cute though.

I'll be watching the game since it's being streamed on Paramount+. I haven't followed football for many years mostly because games weren't regularly available online (I don't own a TV). It's a lot better the past year or so. The only downside now is that I don't get to watch the Vikings unless I'm visiting my folks on game day.
As for halftime, does anyone remember when/why it became such a thing? I don't recall the last halftime show I saw but have watched the video of Prince's performance. That was good.

The most infamous Halftime performance was Justin Timberlake ripping off Janet Jackson's top in front of mega millions of viewers. Typically, she bore the brunt of the sanctimonious backlash. The definitive wardrobe malfunction.
