I had to google it. My son was aware of the term. He's had a go at pot but isn't a fan. But he was right on it, so it's commonly used, the term that is. Perhaps the smokers on here could elaborate? Maybe.

Pardon me if this question veers off the topic but I ask it sincerely. How, where, when and why did '420' become associated with pot smoking? Is it an american thing? Please explain. Thank you. Did I hear the call for Pedantic Man? It was originally thought to be the police code for disturbing the peace or smoking in public. Then it became associated with the time of 4:20 pm (as good a time as any to light up unless you're at work.) Now it extends to the entire day of April 20 ( like it's the 4th of July for stoners.) Apparently the police code idea was not actually true all along, so it's all based on myth alone. Like the invisible spaghetti monster.

Hardly pedantic, miles. Thanks for the info.
Stephen Colbert had a funny bit during last week's Late Show, broadcast live each night after convention coverage. The Colorado delegation protested something during a platform debate and walked off the convention floor. The time stamp showed they left at 4:20pm. Stephen quipped that maybe they left because they had the munchies.

Did I hear the call for Pedantic Man? Paranoid Man, maybe? Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean that they're not after me.

My doctor just told me I was suffering from paranoia. He didn't actually say that, but I could tell it was what the bastard was thinking.

Over the past weeks my perception and opinion on the legalization of marijuana has been changing. I've been reading about the benefits and challenges of legalization and how communities and states are at the beginning stages of this paradigm shift. Of course it is messy and difficult and could remain so for a good long while. Legalization will not cure the ills of addiction in this world but perhaps it will offer a better understanding of which battles are worth fighting.
Part of my opinion change is due to my recent use of CBD Oil (non-THC formula) for chronic pain issues. It is proving beneficial for me. Since pot is still illegal at the federal level in the U.S. there is little to no research on this product. What information does exist is encouraging. That also means the long term affects are unknown but I'm ok with that, since people have been using pot in many different ways for a very long time and it hasn't killed off the species yet.
-----------
On to a different part of the topic at hand. For those of you who live in areas where pot is legal, how does the buying and selling work and have there been monetary or tax benefits to your community/state?

I dig, you dig, we dig, he digs, she digs, they dig. It's not a beautiful poem, but it's very deep.

I'm solidly pro-weed. Especially in these deep dark Donald Trump days. It's a ready antidote to this madness.
