That will be you too then. Yeah? Eh? Was I in the right thread?

Yes, but it was in a parallel universe. Happens to me all the time.

Happy anniversary to Bill Clinton, impeached on this date in 1998 for lying about his tryst with Monica Lewinsky--a real blow to Clinton's career.

Happy anniversary to Vincent Van Gogh, who, despite an intervention by the Doctor and Amy, suffered a fit of madness and sliced off part of his ear on this date in 1888, performing the world's first lobe-otomy.

Happy anniversary to the War of 1812, which technically ended on this date in 1814. That didn't stop the Americans from trouncing the British in the Battle of New Orleans two weeks later, but we're Americans--we don't handle peace very well. We don't handle war very well, either, but that is a topic for another anniversary. I'll just go back to my silly pacifism.

Happy anniversary to the General Court of Boston, instituting a five shilling fine on anyone caught "observing any such day as Christmas" on this date in 1651. Who knew?--the Puritans actually got something right for a change.

Happy anniversary to the Lumiere brothers, who screened the world's first commercial movie, shown in Paris on this date in 1895. The first commercial porno would come the following day, as would the viewers.

Happy anniversary to famed Ohio State football coach Woody Hayes, whose career came to an end after he punched an opposing player on this date in 1978. At least he made an impact.

Samuel Pepys began his diary today in 1660. Six years later he famously buried his cheese (what a euphemism!) to save it from becoming the ultimate grilled cheese sandwich.

Also, happy anniversary to Fidel Castro, who overthrew dictator Fulgencio Batista on this date in 1959. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Happy anniversary to the Golden Gate Bridge, whose construction began on this date in 1933. I heard that the bridge was appropriately christened with a golden shower. On an unrelated note, never trust salt-water taffy.

Happy anniversary to the first election for the president of the United States, held on this date in 1789. Only white men who owned property were allowed to vote; judging by last year's election returns, that hasn't changed.

Happy anniversary to Dwight Clark, the San Francisco 49ers receiver who, on this date in 1982, would make what became known simply as The Catch, propelling his team of stupid jerks to the Super Bowl where they would defeat my favorite team, the Cincinnati Bengals (granted, I was too young to remember this game, but that doesn't change the fact of their overall jerkiness). I hope someday to write something so witty and earth-shattering that it will simply be referred to as The Post.

Happy anniversary to the Chippewa, Delaware, Ottawa and Wyandot tribes, signers of the Treaty of Ft. McIntosh, ceding their lands to the United States on this date in 1785, thus allowing Introvertigo's clan to settle in Ohio about twenty years later. To add further insult to the displaced tribes, here is the legacy they left behind.
