A lot of people voted to screw the ruling class.
Not knowing it will be them who will be screwed even more. The ruling class are untouchable. Be careful what you wish for.

Why do we always have extremes of weather? A consistent run of something just above the middle would be welcome.

My answer would be climate change. Others may disagree. Speaking of extremes, it was 81˚F at 4am this morning and just got hotter as the day progressed. There are usually days in July and/or August when it gets very hot and humid in the upper Midwest but this stretch of hot is not the norm. Maybe it's god's dope slap for us humans fu**ing up the planet (see my previous post).

Yes climate change, but climate change has been going on forever. I think our irresponsible use of resources adds to it in a small way but it would happen anyway. My view is we should look after the planet we live on to live in a better more pleasant, safer environment. The threat of the planet turning to dust doesn't cut it with most people. It's not going to happen on their watch anyway. And if it is going to turn to dust nothing we do or don't do will stop it. We are pretty insignificant players in the wider scope of things. However that doesn't mean we shouldn't do our bit. But a radical change of how we live and run our economies is needed. And that's not going to happen anytime soon. So they'll just continue to guilt trip the end-user. Same as it ever was.

I may believe that we humans have more of an impact on climate change than you but, well said, donavan.

Thanks peggs, it's an interesting subject. Pity this forum is so dead. Would make a good discussion.

This forum. Is it time to call it a day?

As long as Ned keeps the extension cord plugged in to the outlet and someone presses the reply button, the forum will probably remain. It may not be relevant in this post-XTC, post-online forum day and age but here it is.
Does anyone still post a word or two on the old backporch forum?

Me, Ned and Stix. But not much and I haven't been there for quite some time. Must have a peek soon. It did fall over not long back. But clambered back up again.
Are you a member of any other forums?

I have temporarily been on other forums (fora?) when I needed to find out something specific (sausage-making, for instance. Oi! No giggling at the back!) but Idea, the old BP and this BP have been the only ones I've stayed with for the fun of it. I just love you guys! Stop keep asking if it's time to give up on this one, don. As long as a few people want to converse through this medium, and Ned is happy to pump up the tyres and chuck some oil in every now and again, then why shouldn't it continue, you stereotypical Manc miserabilist you!

Unless that was the question. In which case the answer is -
So's your face.

don, y'auld git, this is the first time I've been on this here thread (I think) and I took my cue from the majority of posts on this page which seem not to follow the "answer, then pose your own question" convention. Are you sure you're not muddling it up with the "Interview The Person Below" thread?
"why shouldn't it continue, you stereotypical Manc miserabilist you!

That makes no sense...... Drinking in the afternoon?
