He had his reasons. A pleasant environment turned into a very unpleasant one so he left. He tried ignoring him, it didn't work and for him in particular it was impossible to get along with Jack.
And it's not like he was the only one. Multiple members turned to Facebook largely in response to him and interactions with other forum members.

Hey man that's life. I don't like everyone down my local pub but why should I? I get along with a few and in time might get along with the others. I'm fully aware I'm not too popular on the various XTC forums. I've had the PM's to prove it. But I'm fine with that. Why do others think everyone should think their way? If you don't want to be in a public discussion then yeah, go to Facebook and just chat with your friends. But don't bitch about not being able to get along with others just because other people have something else to say, whatever that is.

If you don't want to be in a public discussion then yeah, go to Facebook and just chat with your friends. But don't bitch about not being able to get along with others just because other people have something else to say, whatever that is. If the internet were life, it would be horrible. Consider that you compare a forum to a pub but then later call it a "public discussion." A pub may be public but it not a place to invite everyone else to have the same discussion. In life, if you don't get along with someone, you don't interact. I really don't understand how you can't see that Jack made that absolutely impossible for some. When he was his most active, you couldn't type a word without him saying something about it... or just as likely saying completely unrelated and completely disrespectful. And lets face it. With so little pertinent band content to discuss the bulk of this forum and every XTC forum since Idea really has been "chatting with friends," or in the least, "friendly chatter". Why should it be surprising if someone leaves when the loudest voice is someone you don't get along with? Now that I think about it, Per did not completely leave, he participated semi-regularly in the label threads. He just stopped using the community sections because they had stopped being a friendly place for him. I figure by the time Jack left it just was not something he needed anymore.

And a forum is? Many threads, many topics.

Not in my world dude. You find common ground. You really are missing out if you think that.

You live in a very odd world, preaching common ground while denigrating the choices of others.

We all live in an odd world and running away rarely solves anything. But in the wide scheme of things forums are not that important so I suppose everyone is free to come and go and do as they do. And I wasn't preaching.
