Hey Introvertigo! Thanks for this little nudge; chuffed that you thought of the Cycle record and hope it didn’t disappoint on your return visit! Been working on a new release of late and one of the holdovers from the Cycle sessions also features Sir David on guitar duties. Looking to finally get that one out this time. I’ll keep you posted if you like. Thanks again for your kind support! Cheers Steve R.

Well, you asked me to keep you posted... (this'll teach you...) Yeah, it took a while, as these things do, but my new one is finally out (released today, actually). I posted a little about it here: www.steverobinsonmusic.comand there's a nice early review here: poprockrecord.com/2021/02/21/this-is-steve-and-ed-swallowing-the-sun-and-paper-boats/#respondAgain, I managed to snag the services of Sir Dave G. on a couple of tracks. Don't know why he bothers with me, but his playing brings me so much joy, so best not to ask questions, right? This links to the usual streaming platforms (whatever that means) and to my Bandcamp page, etc... li.sten.to/uhXpqR6I know it's a rough time for us all, so if anyone wouldn't mind having a copy of the album, but it's a bad time for whatever reason, send me a message (sunshinedrenchy@hotmail.com) and I'll gladly send you a free download link. As nice as it is to sell CDs/downloads, I just want to share the songs, especially with people who have discriminating tastes and good ears. Let's face it, if you're on an XTC forum... Cheers to all! Steve Robinson

Hey all, wondered if I might share one of the songs from the new record? A little background: On Cycle, the album I did with Ed Woltil in 2015, we'd been fortunate enough to have Dave Gregory on board for a trio of songs. On one of them (Elastic Man), Dave had sent over a lovely slide guitar track that made instantly made me think of George Harrison. I've always loved George's slide playing, and I suppose there was something in both Dave's tone and the way he was playing, that to my ears, was reminiscent of the quiet Beatle. So, while working on the song, "Quiet One" - a fairly obvious nod to George - I knew I had to ask Dave if he might be interested in lending his formidable talents to it. Thankfully, he said yes, and I have no qualms about admitting that when I first heard his playing on it, I got a little emotional*, choked up, even. It just sounds like he's channeling Hari Georgeson to me, and it just makes me so happy. For anyone interested, here's a link to the song in question: youtu.be/lP4zxAFZj1kCheers then, Steve R. * Yes, I do understand that admitting to getting emotional is akin to renouncing one's British citizenship. So be it.

My therapist just told me that I have serious trouble verbalizing my emotions.
Can’t say I’m surprised.

Lovely song. The purest tone and lightest touch. Slide away.

A bit late owing to a weird work week, but I just put this cd in my computer. Two minutes and I already like what I am listening to.

Thanks for the support, Introvertigo; very kind of you. Of course, two minutes in means you were still on the first song, so who knows... Speaking of the first song, my partner in grime, and producer, Ed Woltil, put together this lyric video for the opener, Sorry Amsterdam. Sometimes, it really does still feel like it’s 1985... youtu.be/wZ0r1ABIng0

At the risk of overstaying my welcome here, hope it's ok if I post another song from Swallowing The Sun. Not trying to sell anything here; just want to share a bit of that Dave Gregory magic. This is the first one of mine that Dave ever played on, and it just holds a special place for me. Asked him for a guitar track and he sent back some brilliant lead parts (imagine that) and some lovely slide accents to boot. www.steverobinsonmusic.com/2021/04/these-things-take-time.html

Also, your last album was great.
