"The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead" appeared at the end of the 90s-only Power Pop Show this week.

I'm currently listening to "Generals and Majors," which also appeared on the 80s Underground this week.

I don't know if this counts, but I am pretty sure I saw Andy Partridge's face in a tortilla when I had lunch today. Maybe I should have kept it and sold it on e-Bay.

I spotted Barry Andrews in a fried egg a couple of months back. Uncanny.

Good to hear that he came out of his shell.

One night over the Christmas holidays, my daughter and I were settling in for an evening of Netflix. We decided on Gilmore Girls. I had heard good things about it but had never checked it out back in the day. In one of the first episodes we watched, I heard I'm the Man Who Murdered Love in one scene. We'd made a good choice, apparently! I'm now halfway through the first season and XTC music has been in 4 of the episodes so far. I have also heard We're All Light, Earn Enough For Us and Thanks for Christmas during the Xmas episode. Hopefully this XTC trend continues through the rest of the seasons. Very nice!

Thanks for the info. weasie. I didn't realize that the band were so featured in the show. I too have never seen Gilmore Girls (but have heard good thing about it) so will have to check it out.

Here's a link to an excellent and interesting interview with Nick Heyward in which our Andy is mentioned. Check out Sodajerker for more songwriter interviews including Joe Jackson, Tom Robinson, Joan Armatrading, and others. Thanks go to yellsinger from the old Idea Forum for sharing this with me. I spotted some lovely in my mailbox today--a new copy of a cd that got damaged about three years ago and hadn't been replaced.

A rather tenuous 'sighting' but, what the hey. I'm listening to The Unbelievable Truth (S18E2) and the first topic is names. An example given for misleading Japanese rock bands was, Seagulls Screaming Kiss Her, Kiss Her (3:50 minute mark)

I'm listening to Neal DeGrass Tyson talk about learning to become a scientist on 'To The Best of Our Knowledge', when the drips and strings of the background music catch my attention. Sure enough, River of Orchids has been edited to provide a bit of atmosphere. Cool! I hope Andy got a few pennies for it.

This a little late but, nonetheless... On 29 April there was a fundraiser and concert in St. Paul, Minnesota that featured many local and regional musicians forming an all-star XTC tribute band, called...Senses Working Overtime 5 (it was the 5th year - d'oh!) A couple of nifty posters can be seen here and here. And here is video from the night. No, I was not there, but I'm sure a good time was had by all

Mellotronanism played a completely unrehearsed XTC track (yes, thanks ColinEd for throwing that in at the last minute!) - shame about the unappreciative audience!
