Every now and then, I experience a divine moment when I see that my children have actually listened to me and 'get' me. Today I enjoyed such a moment when my daughter approached me after work and told me that she just had to read me the first line in a new YA book that she was reading. She read, "XTC was no good for drowning out the morons at the back of the bus. Park pressed his headphones into his ears..." My elation was beyond words, even when she followed the passage up with, "Mom, I never thought they were a real group until I read this line." Sigh. (Passage is from Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell)

An independent film called The Power Pop Movie is in the works, and Dave Gregory is one of the artists who did an interview for the project. Here is a link. powerpopmovie.blogspot.com/DG appears briefly in the trailer posted on the site, but I think the trailer is worth watching just for the great Shoes track played in the background.

New compilation punk/new wave album being advertised on TV. Clip of XTC/Nigel used. Others Blondie and The Jam. Must think they are a selling point. Fame at last.

Jeff Shelton's Power Pop Show featured a tribute to the 70s tonight, with my favorite XTC track "Life Begins at the Hop" making the program.

Jeff Shelton's Power Pop Show featured a tribute to the 70s tonight, with my favorite XTC track "Life Begins at the Hop" making the program. I found the Power Pop Show online (and subscribed to the podcast) and spent two glorious hours listening to and singing along with the 70's Power Pop special. Thanks Introvertigo! What a great program. I'm looking forward to someday seeing the documentary.

In a six hour car trip over two days, Sirius radio station the Loft played 3 XTC songs, It's Nearly Africa, King For a Day and No Thugs In Our House. I was so shocked to hear It's Nearly Africa on radio that, for a brief moment, I thought it was Melt the Guns, which has been played when acts of gun violence happen. For the icing on the cake, the next day "The Loft" played the first Pugwash song I've heard on radio, Poles Together.

I was at my local fabric store the other day when 'King For A Day' was piped through the speakers. That and 'Love On A Farmboy's Wages' seem to be on a number of adult/easy listening channels. But I was the only one singing along that day.

I'm doing a weekly online crossword called the Rock and Roll Crossword. This week's edition featured a clue about "Fruit Nut."

Last week, Sirius Radio station The Loft played "Silverstar" the short instrumental off of Fuzzy Warbles 8. Interesting to see Andy Partridge's name rather than XTC on the radio ID. The next day they played the Sarah McLachlan version of "Dear God."

Andy on Reddit today (4/24) was interesting. I was unaware that he has no interest in creating music as a solo act. It partially answers my question of why he hasn't recorded/released new music.
