No work tomorrow, and Johnnie Walker Red tonight. Not beer or wine, I understand, but it is in the same spirit.

They say that whiskey cannot cure the common cold. Well, Dewar's and I are going to prove them wrong.

I feel significantly better today. It must have been my whiskey cure last night, so I am repeating the cure tonight to prevent a relapse, or perhaps prevent a future outbreak. Take that, doctors.

I just finished the last of my bottle of '20 Bees Cabernet Merlot'. BUT .... it's how I finished it that's the catch. I put it in my beef stew I made for dinner tonight. I thought that showed a huge amount of restraint on my part that I was cooking with it and didn't actually drink it.

Contrary to what you may think, it makes beef stew taste quite good. Try it sometime.

Have done. Much prefer to drink it with the meal. Not fussed on alcohol in food, although it works better with desserts. A drop of Tia Maria over vanilla ice cream ain't too shabby.

I'm with you , Suzi. A good wine in stew can't be beat.

I'm with you , Suzi. A good wine in stew can't be beat. It's wonderful. Remember, all those pretentious TV chefs are right. Never cook with a wine you wouldn't drink. I have a fantastic, easy recipe for Beer Bread. The house smells absolutely divine when it's cooking and I have a far huger issue using a whole bottle of beer for it then I do sacrificing one cup of wine !!! Plus, it's fun cooking with beer for this as you can experiment with different kinds so it's a bit different flavour to the bread every time.

Beer bread sounds wonderful. I've baked a lot of bread in my day but never used beer. I'll have to give it a go. I like the fact of changing the taste with different beer. Thanks for the tip, Suzi.
