Actually that's from his previous 'sheet music only' project.

I don't expect I can help, don, but I am curious. Are you having difficulty sending/receiving messages or are you troubled by the content of the messages being sent/received? Because the latter may take some time to correct.

I've sent about 3, nothing major, just good humoured stuff, but had no replies. Now maybe they didn't require a reply but when I have received a PM I've replied and had a short conversation. This proves everything is good. But if you create an original message you have no idea if it's arrived or indeed been read. I don't use the PM thing very often and I'm cool if someone doesn't get back to me, it's just I'm never certain I've done things correctly. I also access this place mostly through my phone which in itself creates a whole new world of problems.

I wondered about that, as well, Donavan. I haven't sent any but have received a few. I've sent replies, but I don't if the replies go through or not, and I don't want the original senders to think that I am ignoring them. I wouldn't want to get a reputation for aloofness more so than what I already have.

I followed a link to the old Back Porch forum and came across a post from longinglook that seems appropriate for our new digs (emphasis mine):
"Facebook is like a big, global cocktail party with lots and lots of people. Forum folk, the girl you were friends with in fifth grade, your old boyfriends, the lady who works down the hall, dear, distant friends from college, your Aunt Frankie - all kinds of people. It's nice, but kind of superficial; a mile wide and an inch deep. You can drift in and out as you like and no one notices.
The Ape forum is like a dinner party, with a mixture of familiar and unfamiliar people. It can be is very fun and interesting at times, (and what a lovely host!) But then some awkward guest says the wrong thing and makes it all uncomfortable for everyone for a while.
Brian's right, the backporch is more intimate. Like hanging out with your pals at a bar after work. Sure, some of them get on your nerves from time to time, but you still like them anyway. So, I would not be in favor of getting rid of it."
I'll have a Sam Adams.

Make that two, whatever it is. Cheers. Donavan, Samuel Adams is a lager made in Boston, Massachusetts. It's an OK beer; an unfussy brew that drinks well warm August nights. Cheers to you as well.

It's a good beer, actually tastes of something! There used to be a joke, more appropriate before the rise of US craft breweries:
Why is American beer like making love in a canoe?
It's fucking close to water.
